The Green Collective: Singapore's Eco Lifestyle Store
I’m so happy that August Society has recently joined The Green Collective, Singapore’s first multi-brand green lifestyle store! Located at KINEX (formerly OneKm), it is THE place to find everything you need to live a more sustainable lifestyle, from reducing waste to choosing ethically made products to dressing in sustainable fibres. The Collective started earlier this year as a small, three-month pop up, and due to the hard work, persistence and vision of the organizers Agy, Danielle, Adel and Mayur, it’s now a 2,000+ square foot permanent space full of sustainable products from 33 brands and growing. Here’s why you should head East to check out what’s in store:
Aside from our sustainable swimwear made from recycled polyester, you can find other clothing items made of sustainable fibres and created through eco-friendly processes. Get your casual wear and baby basics from Etrican, which are all made out of GOTS certified 100% organic cotton. Zhai offers wardrobe staples made out of sustainable bamboo, Tencel and linen. You Living sells casual wear from Taiwanese designer Cheng's Atelier, who weaves, sews and dyes his own cotton and flax fabric using natural, plant-based dyes. You can also find artisan crafted, ethical, sustainable apparel from MATTER.
Live a Zero Waste Lifestyle
The Collective has tons of reusable goodies you can use to reduce packaging and plastic waste. Bring your beverages in a collapsible coffee cup or reusable water bottle, carry your lunch in cute colourful collapsible lunch containers, and nix the plastic straws by using a metal or bamboo replacement. The Bamboo Straw Girl does straws, toothbrushes and beautiful utensils kits to help you ditch your plastic habit for good. Having a party but don’t want to do a mountain of dishes? Nature Rustic offers natural, disposable tableware that’s biodegradable and replaces plastic plates and bowls. Want to have a plastic-free period? The Collective stocks menstrual cups from Freedom Cups and Live Love Luna as well as reusable organic cotton menstrual pads. To haul home all of your new goodies, pick up a Bagcu foldable, reusable bag made of recycled plastic.
Find Handmade Treasures
The Collective features a number of artisan-made accessories, textiles and home ware that make great gifts (for yourselves and others!) Check out colourful Kika Wika bags hand woven in Thailand and gorgeous shoes, accessories, baskets from The Handmade Romantics. Coopita features numerous beautiful artisan made jewellery, accessories, and home linens, and you can find colourful, wearable art made from upcycled textile waste by Adel at Taikensonzai.
For premium, handcrafted soap made from natural oils and butters, check out Himmel Blue’s line of bar soaps, shampoos and conditioners. Wellness Within offers natural, organic, cruelty-free sunscreen and cosmetic products and Treat Yourself makes yummy natural body scrubs. You can even find a hand made natural enzyme household cleaner.
Make a Difference
Get your Christmas cards this year from Jaab Cards, which are fair trade and hand made by artisans in Thailand, and where a part of the proceeds are donated to breast cancer research. Baliza’s gorgeous beaded and tasseled beach kaftans and ready to wear pieces are made in India and support communities of women by training them and giving them skills and employment.
The Collective also regularly organizes fun, hands-on workshops, so check the Facebook page regularly for what's on. Ready to head east for some green retail therapy? The Green Collective is located at KINEX, 11 Tanjong Katong Road #01-36 to 42, Singapore 437157 and is open daily from 11am - 9pm.

Did you know good, quality swimwear can last up to 10 years! Between the chlorine, salt water, sunscreen oils, tanning lotions, and sweat, we know it can be challenging to #SaveTheSuit. Not to mention your suit is being soaked in water and exposed to sunlight more than any other piece of clothing you own. How's a girl to handle it?
