Our Stylish Tips to Accessorize Your Swimwear

Summer may be officially over but don’t say “bye” to the beach just yet! Sometimes, you just gotta bring your own sunshine, you know? There are a lot of ways to extend our favourite season (we’re talking about summer, of course!) and one of them is by rocking beachwear accessories that will surely bring up the temperature a couple of degrees.

Swimwear Accessories - Hats

Use statement hats. Whether it’s a dainty, floppy hat, or something minimalist like a straw fedora, hats never fail to glam up a beach outfit. They’re highly useful, too! A lot of us do not realize that there’s so much skin from the neck up that we miss to put sunscreen on, such as the back of our ears, the nape of the neck, or the lip. Good thing these areas can have an extra layer of protection when we wear hats!

Jazz up your look with some bikini jewelry. Ditch your puka-shell necklaces and replace them with beach accessories that are more in touch with the current fashion trends! Body chains (as often sported by Kylie Jenner and Gigi Hadid), temporary tattoos, chunky bracelets, and amulets are definitely at the top of our list. Just want to make a friendly reminder though, to make sure that whatever jewelry you choose to wear with your beach OOTD, make sure that they won’t compromise your safety in the water or won’t get in the way of the water activities that you’ll do!

Swimwear Accessories - Bags

Rock colourful beach bags. If you’re looking for something that will complete your Beach Babe look, then a beach bag will surely do the trick. Yup, that’s right—gone are the days when these totes are just used so you can stash the things you’re bringing with you to the beach. If they are stylish enough — like these artsy pieces from our Vagabond Beach Totes — a simple tote can make all the difference between a fab and a drab beach look.

Go for stylish cover-ups and toppers. There is no denying that wearing bikinis is all about flaunting some skin, but there is something about topping it with a sari or a plain denim button-up that gives it a different appeal. Sarongs, dresses, and tunics are fool-proof bikini cover-up items, too. If you’re going for a more easy-going look, try wearing your favourite tee then tie it to a knot just above your midriff!

Choose your sunglasses wisely. A pair of fabulous spectacles adds a special touch to your whole look. Choose a pair that looks flattering on you (try to check out an online guide to buying sunglasses like this one —they usually tell you which types of sunnies will go well with the shape of your face). Want to don the inner Hollywood A-lister in you? Go for an oversized pair or the classic aviator shades. If you’re feeling a bit playful, you can also get ones that come in different colours and prints—just make sure that they won’t clash with your bikini!

Swimwear Accessories - Sunglasses

Accessorizing your swimwear is not that hard, especially if you have a lot of items in your closet to up your beach OOTD game. And oh, by the way—before you get to the accessorizing part, make sure to get the basics right by choosing the right swimwear!
